Masayoshi Sukita ……
Born in 1938 in Noogata city, Fukuoka prefecture in Japan. Aftergraduating Japan Institute of Photography, studied with Shisui Tanahashi. Having worked for Daiko Advertising Inc., came to Tokyo in ’65, joined Delta Mondo, and mainly involved in men’s fashion. Received prizes for APA, ADC, etc. in the 60’s. Started getting interested in subculture since Woodstock concert in ’69, and went to cities such as New York and London for shooting. In 2009, took part in photo exhibition "Who Shot Rock & Roll" held at Brooklyn Museum. In 2010, released photo book "Y.M.O x SUKITA", and in 2012, released "BOWIE x SUKITA Speed of Life" from Genesis Publications in the U.K., a photo book covering a collection of photos of David Bowie whom Sukita has been shooting for 40 years. Released Imawano Kiyoshiro photo book "SOUL". Currently working for advertising, music, films,etc. In August 2012, photo exhibitions at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Shibuya Parco Museum, and Paul Smith Space Gallery were held simultaneously. In 2013, provided photos for "David Bowie is "held at Victoria & Albert Museum. That year, held "David Bowie Photo Exhibition" at SNAP Galleries in London. Released "THE SHOOT MUST GO ON (Masayoshi Sukita talking about himself)" from K&B Publishers. Shot Rui Kurihara, advertising model for a fashion brand "TAKEO KIKUCHI", Shot Paul Smith in spring 2013. In August, shot Iggy Pop in Korea. In September, held photo exhibition in Fukuoka. Photo exhibition in session at BIGSTEP, Shinsaibashi Osaka until February 2, 2014.
